Hacking Health Waterloo 2019 | People's Choice Award Winner
Situation
Hacking Health is an organization dedicated to connecting people to solve real health problems. In 2019 they presented the problem of social isolation, aging and technology for a 3 day hackathon.
Social Isolation is a huge problem in Canada, especially amongst the aging population. Over 1M Canadian seniors are affected by this and it leads to other health issues. However, only 22% of seniors use technology and there is no standard for digital literacy. 10 years ago it was using a mouse and keyboard, but today it means something else. It is increasingly difficult to keep up with the rate of technology.

Task
Given the theme of social isolation, aging and technology, we were tasked to work in a team and develop a technology based solution. On the third day of the event , teams were to pitch their solutions to a panel of judges in under 3 minutes.
Analysis
We went through the entire product lifecycle. From research and ideation to creating and testing an MVP with users.
My Role
I was the team lead and pitcher. Our idea was to create "connected whiteboards". I worked with other engineers, a resident physician, and a business advisor to flesh out the idea. We were able to develop our business model and go-to-market strategy, develop an MVP and get valuable user feedback.
